A Guide to Palmistry: Essentials and Rules for Hand Reading, Chapter VIII, Part – 3

Part 3

The connection between the subconscious and conscious minds is only switched when one of them is dormant and the other awake. That is the reason why we dream of coming events or fulfilling our desires, etc. Both the conscious and the subconscious mind are so connected with each other that the whole existence of any individual is governed and directed by both minds which work in shifts, the one replacing the other during its absence.

As the brain contains both minds, and as the brain is reflected on the hand, it could be safely said that both minds as well are reflected on the hand and its parts.

As the cells of the brain change after about every seven years, the same change is observed, in the lines and signs of the hand, and that is why the career and destiny of man is oil the move either through his efforts or through  his environments. The children’s hands give a clear specimen of these changes as their career and destiny are always childhood that Line of Fate will look more vigorous, deeper and straight in the right hand than in the left. On the contrary, if the person has gone wrong and ruined these circumstances, the Line of Fate will be good in the left hand and bad in the right hand.

Scientifically and logically speaking it is beyond human mental and intellectual powers to give a fixed date, month or year for any event.

Many palmists invented many ways by which they can say or fix the date of events, etc., but it will soon be explained, these invented methods are not based on scientific calculations. For example, they divide the main lines into 100 parts, every part representing one year, and they pretend that by the intersection of the lines they will be able to fix the actual date of the event. The following facts disprove this invention:

(i) The majority of human beings do not live to such a ripe age;
(ii) All the main lines as well as the minor ones are not of the same length;

(iii) The short deep line has the same power and action as the long strong line;

(iv) This invention of dividing the main lines parts, fixes the point where the Line of Fate crosses the Line of Mentality as the age of 30 (A fig. 1), and where the same line cuts the Line of Heart as the age of 45 (B fig. 1). On this ridiculous calculation the Line of Fate (CD fig. 1) is thus divided: CD = 100 years CA= 30 ,,CB= 45 ,,AB = 15 Any person with a little particle of brain will not agree to that division and would deny the distance BD which is nearly one-fourth of the distance CA to represent about twice the number of years or to be nearly equal in length the distance BC.

(v) The intersection of the Line of Fate with both Lines of Mentality and Heart will not be found at the same place or position or level in all hands. In the hands where the Line of Mentality slopes towards the Mount of Moon, it must meet the Line of Fate at a lower point than when it runs across the palm (A and B figs. 2) and 3 respectively).

(vi) In cases where the Line of Fate is absent what point will represent 30 and 45 years of age and why?

Something very amazing in Hand Reading to which the student’s attention is urgently invited is that: It is often observed a certain sign in one hand in some place, say in the middle of Line of Mentality or Heart, and the same identical! Sign is seen in the same place and spot in another hand; obviously both signs mean the same thing but curiously enough we find that one sign happened at certain age while the other happened in another age. This leads us to say that although the two events are identical yet one befell to one person some years before or after the other befell the second person. To be more explicit: suppose we find a cut through the middle of the Line of Vitality in some hand, and the same cut through the middle of the same Line in another hand. Both cuts mean a serious illness threatened the subject, when you ask him at what age his health was seriously threatened he will tell you, say, at the age of 25, while the other person when asked will tell you that he was seriously ill at the age of 12 or 36.

Part 2

As regards events and accidents, the student should always remember that although human beings are made of the same materials, i.e. blood, flesh, bones, muscles, nerves, etc., yet they all differ in the construction of their brains and their action and reaction. For instance, if Mr. A and Mr. B, who are both married men, hear at one moment that their wives have been killed, we might find Mr. A totally depressed and about to go mad while Mr. B will look indifferent and perhaps pleased. Now, both persons are inflicted with the same calamity, but their behaviour towards it differs widely. This can be known by examining the shape and texture of the band, the ringers and their tips, etc.

The most puzzling question which is asked by everyone is, how can the hand tell the past and future events? The answer is as follows:

As regards the past events which had actually happened: It is well known that the palm of the hand contains more nerves than any other part of the body. It is also known that any event whether good or bad is carefully recorded in the brain which by ruin reflects its records on the hand in the shape of lines and signs, so that it would be easy by examining the behaviour of the lines to tell what good or bad circumstances had elapsed and how they had affected the career and destiny.

As regards the coming events or accidents comprising the future career and destiny: The brain which is composed of cells, grey matter, fibers, lobes, etc., contains two different kinds of mind, viz., the conscious and the subconscious, which are situated in the front and rear parts of the brain respectively.

The conscious mind governs and directs our daily normal life recording in the meantime every event and emotion that encounter its action since childhood upto the present moment. Its duty and functioning is limited and restricted to the things that it already knows and its knowledge never exceeds the past and present. For this reason no mind, however intelligent or superhuman it may be, can tell what will happen the next moment or what is going on next door. This restricted action of the conscious mind is only manifested “when this mind is awake. Once it becomes lulled or dormant as during sleep or in case of intoxication by drugs, it loses all control over the voluntary movements of the body; that is why when one goes to bed with a book or a cigarette and falls asleep the book or cigarette drops without one knowing it. The brain being conquered by sleep loses its power over the grasping tendons of the hand and thus it drops objects.

When the conscious mind is dormant, the subconscious mind starts to work. Unlike the conscious, the subconscious field of action is not limited, and that is the reason and main cause of dreams and other manifestations experienced during the absence of the conscious mind.

The lives of addicts, especially those who take big doses of narcotic drugs, cocaine, opium, etc., give a magnificent illustration of the absence of the conscious and presence of the subconscious minds. Through the drugs the addict’s conscious mind is stupefied and becomes inactive, leaving the field of action for the subconscious mind. In such cases the addict is found in a very peculiar slate saying and doing fantastic things. He often sees houris or fairies or whatever his heart desires and acts in accordance with these hallucinations and illusions.

Some, magnificent writers’, poets, composers and authors are accustomed to take drugs in order to awake their subconscious minds which supply them with best ideas never attained in case of consciousness.

The subconscious mind knows no barrier of space or place. Its action and duty are unrestricted. The most fascinating desires and ardent sensation are only brought to the surface and disclosed through the subconscious activities.
The unlimited sphere of action endowed to the subconscious mind can best be seen in hypnotism and spiritualism. In both cases, it is essential that the medium should fall into a trance and lose his consciousness. When this is done, the subconscious mind hastens to act and can easily get in touch with your mind or the medium’s or the hypnotiser’s or spiritualist’s mind. It is observed in cases of hypnotism and spiritualism, that the subconscious mind of the medium is unable to tell you something which you, the hypnotizer or the spiritualist totally ignore-future events or accidents, for instance. The reason for this is that the medium’s subconscious mind, in order to know these future events, should contact your subconscious mind where they are stowed, and this is impossible as long as your subconscious mind is not working.

A Guide to Palmistry: Essentials and Rules for Hand Reading, Chapter VIII, Part – 1

Dr. Shanker Adawal

Essentials and Rules for Hand Reading

Part 1

This is the most important chapter of the whole book as it furnishes to the student concrete foundations upon which all accurate Hand Reading is based.

From the preceding chapters, the student can know the character, talents and temperament of the subject. It must always be borne in mind that the items embodied in those chapters can never tell the past or future career, or give any clue as to the circumstances, surroundings and environments of the subject.

Careful study and complete understanding together with proper application of the preceding and coming chapters will enable the student to have an accurate and sound data of the subject’s history.

Great attention should be paid to the different marks and signs spread all over the right and left hand. Signs and marks in the left hand are always considered to be false and poor unless they are supported by similar ones at the same place in the right hand. On the other hand, all marks and signs whether good or bad found in the right hand are considered to be genuine and have their full significance whether or not they are supported by similar ones in the left hand.

A vital problem which always presents itself in Hand Reading is what hand is the right one to read from and rely upon? The right or the left hand? A careful glance at both hands will solve this problem. As will be explained later, the left hand shows the inherited character and talents together with the state of affairs on the birth of the individual. It tells whether or not big surroundings in childhood were adequate enough to rule for him a certain easy career; and what action he has taken towards that career. Has he improved it and moved from good to better, or in the reverse has spoilt it and went from good to bad? The result of his action is shown in the right hand. In other words the left hand tells what the individual might have been owing to his inherited talents and circumstances and the right hand tells what he has done to himself, what he is really now and what he will be in future. The proverb, “The man is the architect of his own fortune’, is very true as every one of us is responsible for our character and doing.

Some palmists insist upon reading from the left hand on the alleged assumption that it is the nearer hand to the heart. Any person without even any medical knowledge knows that the heart distributes blood to all parts of the body at the same rate and quantity; and for this reason we never find one whose left side is more vital than the right because it is nearer to the heart, or for instance observe that the rhythm and rate of his pulse more powerful in the left hand than in the right hand.

The reason why the right hand should always be relied upon in proper Hand Reading is the following fact which is considered sufficient proof to support that theory.

Obviously every person is quite acquainted with his past and present conditions; now, compare the main lines in both hands especially the Line of Fate. If the person has improved the family circumstances presented to him during childhood, that Line of Fate will look more vigorous, deeper and straight in the right hand than in the left. On the contrary, if the person has gone wrong and ruined these circumstances, the Line of Fate will be good in the left hand and bad in the right hand.

A very magnificent proof of this theory can be detected and seen in reading the lives of self-made men. These men, who fought poverty and conquered hardships since early childhood until they had gained their aims, are a very good study for the student of Palmistry. On examining their hands, one will be startled by the great difference in the behaviour of the main lines in the right and left hands. While these lines are seen distorted and feeble in the left hand, they will look good and strong in the right hand.
