6. Shashtamsha (D-6), Saptamsha (D-7), Ashtamsha (D-8), Navamsha (D-9) and Ekadashamsha (D-11):
For any of these vargas, the position of a planet may be obtained in the following manner:

i) Longitude of the planet (starting from zero degree Aries) x 6 or 7 or 8 or 9 or 11/30.

ii) Add one to the quotient obtained above.

iii) Deduct from the above value multiples of 12. The remainder would give the sign in which the planet falls in the respective varga or division.

iv) The nature of the planet would depend on its relationship with its dispositor as per Tajika system in the annual chart.

For example if we want to find out the position of Sun, who is say at 3-30’ in Leo, in Shashtamsha, the degree of Sun would be 123-30’ or 123.5 degrees and the position of Sun in D-6 would be:

123.5 x 6/ 30 = 24+…. Add one to it give figurer of 25. Now deducting multiple of 12 (24 in this case) we get the remainder as one.

Thus the Sun in Shashtamsha would fall in Aries. The Sun gets exalted in Aries, so it would give benefic results; but the result would get modified by its relation with Mars, the lord of Aries in the chart as per Tajika system.

7. Dasamsha (D-10): In odd signs, the first three degrees belong to the same sign; the next three degrees to the sign next in order, and so on. In case of even signs, the first three degrees belong to the sign falling in the ninth from itself; the next three degrees to the next (or in the 10th) sign, and so on.

8. Dwadasamsha (D-12) Each sign is divided into 12 equal parts or divisions of 2-30’ each. The first part belong to the same sign; the next to the sign next in order, and so on.

The benefic and malefic nature of a planet in each of the Vargas depends upon its position. When the planet is posited in its own/ exaltation/ friendly sign, it indicates strength/ benefic nature of the planet. If the planet is posited in its debilitation/ inimical sign, it is considered weak or malefic. If the planet is posited in a neutral sign, the nature of the planet will also be neutral. The friendly, inimical or neutral position is ascertained by per Tajika aspects (explained in previous chapter) and not as per Parashari system of natural or Panchda Maitri scheme. Taking into account contribution of each Varga equally, and summing up the strength of all the 12 sources, the relative beneficence/ maleficence of a planet is determined.

Let us consider an example chart of say Shri Rajiv Gandhi for his 41st year pertaining to 1984-85, which is as follows;

Now if we tabulate the Dwadas-vargiya Bala of planets in this chart, it will as follows;

Note:
1. B stands for benefic, M for malefic, and N for neutral.

2. According to Parashar, Jupiter & Venus are benefic planets with cool & calm nature. Waxing Moon & unafflicted Mercury are also benefic planets. The rest are malefic.

3. The planet s having more Vargas in the sign of their exaltation own or friends are considered strong and give excellent or very good results. The planets having their Vargas in sign of enemies give bad results. A good planet of first category falling in the second category gives bad results. A malefic planet in the first category gives good results, but when I second category gives very bad results.

4. Strong Sun, Jupiter & Saturn gave him sudden Prime-Ministership after assassination of her mother (denoted by weak Moon, Venus & Mars).
