13.4 Marriage

13.4.1 Marriage is one of the most sacred “Sanskar” in a person’s life. The spouse is to be an integral part of one’s life and a happy married life alone can provide fulfillment of satisfaction, material and spiritual goals. Hence in ancient scriptures wife is called “Ardhangini”. “Marriages are settled in heaven…” and are direct manifestations of a native’s destiny/ Poorva Karmas in terms of timing, quality and length of marriage. A marriage could be early, timely, late, badly delayed, or even denial or could be broken by death of either spouse or divorce. Badly delayed, denial or broken marriages cause great mental agony particularly to girls and their parents in our society.

13.4.2 Marriage is primarily union of two natives. 1^st house represents self. The 2^nd house indicates lo9ngevity of spouse and immediate family of spouse, 4^th house denotes family happiness, 5^th house for Poorva Punya, progeny, emotions & mental inclination, 7^th house for spouse and relations with spouse, 8^th house for longevity of self & spouse, and 12^th house for mutual relationship & satisfaction. Venus, Jupiter, Moon and Rahu are signification. Venus, Jupiter, Moon and Rahu are significators for marriage. The dynamic considerations include dasdha-Antar dasha-Pratyantar dasha and transit influences on 7^th house, 7^th lord and significators of marriage. In transit, Let us study a case of delayed marriage.

Example Chart No. 10: A Male

The native had 7^th house and Venus in Paapkartari, 7^th lord Sun is debilitated with new Moon Jupiter retrograde & set in 3^rd house and lagna lord Saturn in 8^th house aspected by Rahu. All these factors caused delay in his marriage. However the Jupiter aspected 7^th house & 7^th lord Sun. Jupiter is also depositor of and aspects Mars, Karaka for husband. Let us see the Antar-dasha sequences of Jupiter from 05 Oct 1968 to 2^nd Oct 1984.

Dasha: The native was married on 26^th Dec 1983. The dasha operating on that day was Jupiter-Rahu-Jupiter. The Jupiter aspects 7^th house & 7^th lord. He is also depositor of and aspects Mars, the karaka of husband. The Rahu is natural Karaka of marriage. Hence the dasha scheme gave him marriage which was already delayed.

Transit: On the day of marriage, 26^th Dec 1983, Lagna lord Saturn was exalted in Libra and transiting over Natal Moon & 7^th lord Sun. The Jupiter was transiting in Sagittarius with Sun and aspecting 7^th house. Thus the theory of double transit, approves the marriage. The Jupiter is also Dasha & Pratyantar dasha lord. The Antar dasha lord Rahu is exalted in Taurus and aspects natal Venus, the Karaka of marriage. The Sun was transiting in Sagittarius denoting period 14^th De4c to 13rd Jan. The Moon transiting in Virgo in 10^th house from the Sun denotes Saptami Tithi of dark half.

13.3 Longevity

13.3.1 Shri Mantreshwar has said that when a child is born or whenever a horoscope is presented to an astrologer for any type of prediction, one should first ascertain the longevity and there after only any other thing be considered. The correct judgment of longevity is highly complex & mysterious and normally belies the right answer. But it is equally important and sought after. In various Sanskrit classics several methods-both mathematical & otherwise are mentioned without giving any conclusive answer. However ancient Tamil Palm leaf readings give some dictums for assessing the life span.

The life begins when a native is born. The life further evolves as per Dasha-Antar Dasha, which is based on birth Nakshtra in which Moon is posited at birth. We reckon transit results from the Moon sign. Hence it can be inferred that Transits influence/ modify Dasha-Antar dasha results. We presume that the readers arer conversant with broad categories of Ayush-Alpayu, Madhyayu, & Poornayu, Markesh, Chhidra planets, Chhidra dasha, important Yogas and significations of various houses & planets.

13.3.2 Combinations of Tamil Palm Leaf

i) If 8^th lord is in 9^th or 12^th house, one lives for 100 years.

ii) If 8^th lord is in 8^th or 11^th house, one lives up to 75 years.

iii) If 8^th lord is in 6^th house, one lives up to 50 years.

iv) If 8^th lord is in 4^th, 7^th or 10^th house, one may be Alpayu.

v) If a chart has one or more of Panch Mahapurush Yoga, one may live up to next higher category of Ayush.

vi) Lagna lord, Moon sign lord, 8^th lord, Ayush Karaka Saturn, Saturn sign lord and Jupiter, if all these six planets are well placed and strong, one may live for 100 years.

vii) According to deficiencies/ weaknesses occurring to the six planets mentioned above, the approximate age is modified/ reduced. Suppose the expected age as per sub-Para 13.3.2 ii), is 75. But only 4 out of 6 planets mentioned above are well placed & strong, then the expected age will be modified as under:- 75 x 4/6 = 50 years.

viii) Similarly strong Lagna/ 10^th house & benefic Yoga increases life span, while malefic Yoga reduces life span.

ix) Natural malefics, Mars, Saturn & Rahu, if placed in malefic places from natal Moon / Lagna and associated with Marak planets / houses during transit and during Marak dasha / Antardasha reduces the longevity of the native.

x) The broad expected life span, dasha of Markesh planets and the Transit influence of Markesh/ Dasha planets must coincide to decide actual longevity of the native.

xi) During dasha of a Markesh, the transiting influence of Saturn or Rahu while transiting 8^th house and/ or 8^th lord and on Mrityu Saham/ Death point, could be crucial for ascertaining longevity or in transit, Saturn and Jupiter must influence 8^th house and/ or 8^th lord separately but simultaneously (double transit phenomenon) to mark the termination of longevity.
