Numerology Background

I Astrological Background: Originally there was Shoonya (Zero) and Aakash represents Shoonya. From Aakash Vaayu; from Vaayu Agni; from Agni Water and from Water Earth was created. Thus Panchmahabhoot has come from Aakash – representing Shoonya and Nirakar, Nirvikar Brahma. Similarly Sabd (speech) is Guna of Aakash; Touch is Guna of Vaayu; Vision (sight) is Guna of Agni; Rasa (sweetness) is of Water and Smell is Guna of Earth. Thus all five senses are related to 5 elements of nature. Shoonya gave rise to nine numbers – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. Ultimately, they vanish in Shoonya e.g. 1x0 = 0 etc.

III Other background of Numbers:

1 Different numbers of beads in a Mala are prescribed:

i) 25 Bead Mala: For Moksha

ii) 27 Bead Mala: For own Karya Sidhhi

iii) 30 Bead Mala: For wealth

iv) 54 Bead Mala: For gain of lover

v) 108 Bead Mala: For all Karya Sidhhi.

2 Sun takes one year in completing one round – 360^o = 360x60’ = 21600’. By dividing with 2 and expunging zeroes we get 108 – number of beads in a Mala. It is used clockwise (RH) in Uttarayan and anticlockwise (LH) in Dakshinayana.

3 Various mantras of fixed numbers are prescribed for propitiation of various planet. 7000 for Sun; 11,000 for Moon; 10,000 for Mars; 9,000 for Mercury; 19,000 for Venus; 16,000 for Saturn; 18,000 for Rahu and 17,000 for Ketu’s propitiation.

4 There are fixed number of dasha years for various planets:

i) Sun: 6yrs.

ii) Moon: 10 yrs.

iii) Mars: 7 yrs.

iv) Mercury: 17 yrs.

v) Jupiter: 16 yrs.

vi) Venus: 20 yrs.

vii) Saturn: 19 yrs.

viii) Rahu: 18 yrs.

ix) Ketu: 7 yrs.
