The Ashtakvarga system is
very useful in the predictive astrology for predicting the results of planetary
Mahadashas and Antardashas and the transits of the planets through various
signs of the zodiac. This system is based on the eight constituents and in this
system the eight constituents are the seven planets and one Ascendant of the
horoscope. Rahu and Ketu are not taken into consideration in this system and
these two are excluded while analysis as per this system.
The term Ashtakvarga is a
combination of two Sanskrit words, the first is `Ashtak’ which means eight and
the next word is `Varga’ which means section. It is a unique system which
considers eight sources of energy to which each planet in a horoscope is
subjected to.
As per Ashtakvarga system
each of the eight constituents, namely the Ascendant, Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury,
Jupiter, Venus and Saturn, cast the auspicious rays, which is represented by
the Shubha Bindus, or the auspicious points or the Shubha Rekhas at certain
fixed places or the houses with respect to its position in the horoscope.
Based on the information
of these auspicious effects of these constituents the Prastarashtak Varga
tables of all the eight constituents are prepared with reference to the
horoscope chart. After applying the certain reductions, the sign wise
auspicious points of each constituents are added and these points are called Bhinashtak
Varga points.
And finally, the
Sarvashtak Varga table is prepared which shows the Bhinashtak Varga points for
each the constituent. The Sarvashtak Varga points are obtained by sign wise
addition of the Bhinashtak Varga points.
The Bhinashtak Varga
points and the Sarvashtak Varga points, thus obtained as per the above system,
are used in accordance with the following manner in the interpretation of the
horoscope charts:
a)
The Bhinashtak Varga points of a planet as per its position in a particular
sign in the horoscope determines the type of result it will give during its
Mahadasha and the Antardasha periods and during its transit across the various
signs of zodiac.
b)
The Sarvashtak Varga points of a house based in the sign of zodiac falling in
it in a horoscope determine the relative strength of the house for general
assessment of a horoscope and predicting the results during the planetary
Mahadasha and the Antardasha periods and during the transit of the planets
across these signs of zodiac.
Application
of the Bhinashtak Varga points
Using the Sarvashtak Varga
table of the horoscope, Bhinashtak Varga points of all the planets must be
noted as per the signs in which the planets are positioned. The maximum number
of Bhinashtak Varga points a planet can have is eight. Planets with more than 4
points give comparatively better and favourable results than those planets
which have less than 4 points, and they give comparatively poor results to the
native.
The indications or the
results of the Bhinashtak Varga points, in regard to the various planets, Moon,
Mars, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn, are discussed below:
1.
Moon:
The Moon having 6 or more
Bhinashtak Varga points and particularly when it is placed in the 6th
9th or 11th house then it bestows the native with riches,
wealth and financial prosperity. The intensity, extent and the strength of the
result depends upon the lordship of the Moon, its auspiciousness and strength.
The waxing Moon even with
5 Bhinashtak Varga points makes the native rich, wealthy and prosperous in
life.
If the Moon gets
positioned in the Kendra houses, namely the 1st 4th 7th
or the 10th house, and has more than 6 Bhinashtak Varga points, then
the native becomes learned, scholarly, intellectual, rich, wealthy and
financially prosperous in his life.
Moon placed in the 4th
house with 6 Bhinashtak Varga points in the horoscope of a Cancer Ascendant and
at the same time Jupiter is placed in its sign of exaltation I the Ascendant
then it gives learning, intellect, riches, wealth and financially prosperity to
the native in his life.
