Gemini is the third zodiac sign which is ruled by Mercury which is considered as crown prince or heir apparent in the Vedic Astrology. This sign rises with its head and a male and a female holding a mace and lute represents it. It is a dual sign which means a common or mutable and masculine sign. It lives in the west and is an airy sign. It is a biped sign as well and is strong during the nights. It lives amongst the singer, the dancers and the sculptors. This dual sign haunts the sports lovers and the pleasure house. It is windy in temperament. It has an even body with a green hue like the color of grass. Due to the airy element Mercury’s significations of speech and intellect turn particularly mental in this sign. The property of dual adds the capacity to always see two sides of any issue, allowing for great mediating skills on one hand, but indecisiveness on the other. Since dual signs are partly movable and partly fixed, they provide an adaptable quality. Mercury greatly emphasis this quality, and the combination gives great ability to deal and communicate with all sorts of people. The symbol of Gemini is a couple, holding a mace and a flute. The couple symbolizes communication and interaction, and the objects held indicate multi talents. People with a prominent Gemini in their chart will be very mental, love to analyze and scrutinize, can think of the pros and cons of anything. If one want to stop a Geminian from doing something, ask him or her “are you really sure?” They enjoy frequent communications, are witty and skillful in speech, and can easily relate to people of all kinds. They learn quickly, but also forget quickly. This Sign becomes strong, when it is in between 26degree .20’ to
30degree .00’.

In Roman mythology Mercury is the god of commerce, travel and thievery, the Roman counterpart of the Greek god Hermes, the messenger of the Gods. The planet probably received  this name because it moves so quickly across the sky. It was given two names by the Greeks: Apollo for its apparition as a morning star and Hermes as an evening star. Greek astronomers knew, however, that the two names referred to the same body. Mercury acts to process large volumes of information within our essential being as represented by the Sun. It allows a person to think, discriminate, and express oneself and to move about. This has been called an animator of movement and is associated with our nervous system, the communication and transportation system within our bodies. Mercury tends to make a person verbose, critical, and high strung. The person born under the sign ruled by this planet may even give Leo a run for his money in the egotistical department.
