Mars & Mercury: Mars in Various Houses, Chapter III, Part - 22

Continuation…

Dr. Shanker Adawal

This person travelled north and then his good luck began.

My Thoughts: Descriptions like sinful, cruel, ill mannered, destructive, violent and debauched apply to only Capricorn and Pisces. Those like King’s favour, wealthy, famous apply to Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. The brother’s death occurs only in masculine signs. Learned but unreligious applies to all signs but Aries, Leo, and Capricorn. The law breaking tendency is seen in Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. All the illnesses listed like sexually transmitted disease, eye infections etc. are correct. Such persons want to gain even at the cost of causing great loss to others and a characteristic trait is complaining about people behind their backs. They are cowards but pretend they are very courageous. They are excellent in hatching political conspiracies and love showing up people. When they themselves face humiliation, they laugh in public but carry a grudge. Though they acquire fame it is not wise to trust them. These people believe they are supreme in learning and will declarer their teachers fools without hesitation. They are ill mannered, arrogant, ill tempered, and people who ill treat cows. He may travel abroad and get injured in a fight. In Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, Cancer and Scorpio the person is active, powerful, generous, loving and friendly. In Aquarius, Scorpio and Pisces the person is selfish and in Cancer the person gets good benefits.

Let us view two examples of Mars in the Ninth House:

  1. Mr. Kashinath Sheth Galwanakar. Born on 25-4-1898 at Vasai on a longitude of 15-25.

***chart***

  1. Galwanakar’s brother Dr. Sadanand Galwanakar born on 3-11-1900 with longitudes 0-4.

***chart***

He has been a senator in the university. Both had Mars in the Ninth House so neither brother died but their four sisters died and both men were married twice.

My Experience: If Mars is in Gemini, Libra, Aquarius, Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn there is little happiness. It is the wife who dominates. Young men who have Mars in the Ninth House are reformists by nature. There is a strong chance that they will never marry but if they do, they are loving and affectionate to their wives. There is a chance that the wife may die and for want of someone to bring up his children the person may die and for want of someone to bring up his children the person may marry a second time. These men are debauched. They are famous but not lucky. It is an auspicious conjunction for doctors as their general behavior is virtuous and they get fame. They do not want for anyone. It is a very ordinary conjunction for lawyers however and the only lawyers for whom it works are those who are defending a client. It is good for turners, fitters, carpenters, goldsmiths, ironsmiths. They succeed and get fame. In case of policemen, success comes only after fighting with their seniors. They constantly face opposition from their juniors as well. If Mars is in a feminine sign, the sisters die instead of the brothers. If it is in a masculine sign the reverse occurs. Their good luck takes place between the age of 27-28. For those who are of very low caste this takes place at the age of 27. These people can get elected to the municipality, local board, assembly or district board. They can influence people and even those who don’t like them are unable to say anything to their faces. In Cancer, Scorpio, Capricorn, Pisces Mars can mean that the person gets stability after marriage and also good luck. Some people become doctors, farmers or scientists. In Cancer the temperament is moody. In Scorpio it is base and stubborn. They tend to cause losses to people for their own gains. In Capricorn and Pisces the person is evil, lies, is shameless and brags endlessly.

Brihadyavanajaatak: Hinsavidhaane manasaha pravrittirdharaapate gauravatosapilabdhihi. Ksheenam cha punya dravinam naraanaam punyasthithaha kshonisutaha karoti. He is violent, respected by the king, does not do good deeds, and has no wealth. At the age of 27 his good luck begins.

Paaschaatya Math (Western Thought): He is harsh, ambitious, a liar, a traveler, suspicious, one who is harmed by his wife’s relatives, has marginal faith in religion. Is skeptical about spiritual matters. If Mars is malefic the person is arrogant and has no control over his mind. In a fire sign he is generous. In earth or water signs, the person has a slightly good nature. If Mars is in the Ninth House in an air sign the person is a habitual law breaker.

Unknown: His father dies early. He is unfortunate. If Mars is auspicious then the person will have an extra marital affair with his teacher’s wife. His good fortune only begins in a foreign land. If Mars is auspicious the person does good deeds and he can rule. Here is an example of a person whose good luck started once he went abroad.

Date of Birth 12-6-1896 at 9 a.m.

Mars & Mercury: Mars in Various Houses, Chapter III, Part - 20

Continuation…

Dr. Shanker Adawal

Unknown: He suffers from eye diseases, lives till middle age, his father dies, the person suffers from urinary infections, has few sons, has gastric disorders, has a happy marriage, and will die by the sword. If Mars is auspicious, the person will be healthy, long lived and have a harmonious life at home. If it is malefic the person is in great pain due to urinary infection. If Mars is strong, then the person lives long.

My Thoughts: Barring Baidhyanath all astrologers have ascribed only malefic traits to Mars in the Eighth House. These apply only to masculine signs. The ones mentioned by Baidhyanath apply to feminine signs. Though Kashyap has listed twelve types of death none seem particularly significant to me. The matter of death and how it comes are dealt with at length in my book on Saturn.

My Experience: If Mars is in a masculine sign, the man’s wife or servants tend to publicise domestic matters to the neighbourhood. After marriage his father in law is poverty stricken. The man is a debauch. His face is pock marked. Many astrologers have dealt with the issue of children here, possibly because it is in the fifth place from the spaces reserved for the father and the mother. Ordinarily the Eighth House has nothing to do with children. There many be many children if Cancer is in a feminine sign, or Scorpio or Pisces dominate the Eighth House. If it is in a masculine sign there are next to no children. In Taurus and Virgo there are few children and none in Capricorn. Since this is also the House of Wealth for the man’s wife so she is poor. This makes it very difficult for the husband to manage finances. But Mars in a feminine sign brings him great luck. He gets a wife who is an excellent speaker and loves him a lot. But this happiness does not last long. With Mars in this position the person can be an officer who does not get caught despite taking many bribes. The person has a habit of eating like a glutton till the age of 30. In later life he suffers from Malaria, anaemia, impotence, blood pressure etc. He dies in peace. In Cancer, Scorpio, Sagittarius, and Pisces the person practices yoga. In Aries, Leo, Sagittarius ascendants he is a politician. But long life is not a correct prediction for Mars in the Eighth House this occurs only if its links to the Sun and Moon are flawed. In this placement of Mars the person has a strong desire for sex at 4 in the afternoon.

Mars in the Ninth House

Acharya: Dharmeshdhavaan. He is a sinner.

Gunakar: Dharmesampativaan. He is wealthy.

Kalyanavarma: Akushalakarmaa dweshyaha praanivadhaparo bhavennavamasansthe. Ddharmarahitostipapo narendrakritagauravo rudhire. He does not excel and this angers people. He is destructive, violent, unreligious and sinful but still gets prestige from the king.

Parashar: Parabhavmanartha cha dharma paparoochikriya. He is defeated by people and commits acts of destruction and devastation.

Baidhyanath: Bhoosunau yadi pitranishtha samhita khyaataha shubhasthaanage. The father is indecisive. The man gets prestige.

Garg: Kuje raktapatanaam hi bhavetpaasupaji vrittihi. Bhaagyaheenashch satatam naraha punyagriham gate. His unfortunate has a love for murder and corpses.

Aryagranth: Navamabhavanasansthe Ksheniputrestirogi nayanakarasheereeraihi pingalaha sarvadaiva. Bahujanaparipurno bhagyaheenaha kuchailo vikalajanasuveshi sheelavidhyaanuraktaha. He is very diseased, his eyes and body are reddish yellow, he is always surrounded by people. He is unfortunate. His clothes are shabby. He is talented but suffers many different ailments.

Mars & Mercury: Mars in Various Houses, Chapter III, Part - 19

Continuation…

Dr. Shanker Adawal

Kashyap: The person dies in the following manner in Aries – battle, caught stealing cows, suicide, murdered by enemies, stung by a cobra, trapped under a falling boulder, betrayal by a woman, drowning in a well, trapped under a collapsing wall, of sexually transmitted disease, by poisoning, attacked by thieves.

Brihadyavanajaatak: Vaikalyam syatretrayordurbhagtvam raktata peedaa neechakarma pravrittihi. Budhoraandhyam sajjanaanaam ch ninda ranghrasthaane medineenandanashrachet. Bad eye sight, ugly face, blood disorders, tendency to wickednesss, blind faith, tends to insult friends and suffers losses at the age of 32.

Kashinath: Rudhirartho gatanishchayaha kudhirvidayo nindhyatamaha kujesashta me. He has blood disorders, dysentery, is indecisive, has had thoughts, is unkind and insulting.

Jaageshwar: Shareeram krisham kim shubham tasyam kosher param swasya vargo bhavechcha trutulyaha. Prayaase krite naashamaayaati kaamo yadaa mrityugo bhoomijo valvilagnehe. Punjaraj and Ram Dayal: Their predictions are not clear.

Aryagranth: Pralayabhuvanasansthe mangale ksheenaneeche vrijjati nidhanabhaavam neeramadhye manushyaha. Shanakanakacharaarkaha servadaa chaiva bhogi karapadagasunilo mrityulokam prayaati. He gets wealth, gold and silver in abundance. He dies of gangrene in his hands and legs caused by leprosy. If Mars is malefic the person may drown to death.

Vasishtha: Sarve graham dinakarapramukha nitaantam mrityusthithaa vidadhate kila dushta budhita. Shastraabhidhaataparipeedi tagaatrabhaagam. Saukhyairviheenamatirogagarna roopetmaa. His mind is evil, he suffers from injuries caused by weapons, is unhappy and diseased.

Narayanabhatt: Shubhastasya kim khecharaahaa kuryaranye vidhaanespi chedashta me bhoomisunaha. Sukha kim shatryute satkritospi prayatne krite bhooyate chopasarge. If Mars is alone in the Eighth House then other auspicious influences in other houses are rendered useless. His friends become enemies and no matter what he does the result is only devastation.

Gopal Ratnakar: He has few sons. He suffers from eye diseases and lives only till middle age. His father and paternal grandfather suffer. His maternal uncle dies and the person visits prostitutes.

Gholap: He is unreligious, insulting, and suffers from ailments of the vatha system. He is a fool, coward, ill mannered, one who cannot feed his wife and children. He is a sinner, lean, spendthrift, suffers from blood disorders and eye infections. He is afraid of his enemies.

Hillajaatak: Panchavisho tathaa varshe mrityukartaashta maha kujaha. He dies at the age of 25.

Yavanmath: He is diseased, harassed by his wife, anxious, injured by weapons. He is a good examiner.

Paaschaatya Math (Western Thought): He does not benefit from marriage. If the Sun and the Moon are in a malefic combination the person dies suddenly. If Mars is alone in this place, the death is not early. He could be shot dead. If it is in a water sign he could drown, and if it is a fire sign he could be burnt alive. If Mars is in an air sign he could die of psychiatric ailments. Good luck comes only if Mars is an earth sign.

Mars & Mercury: Mars in Various Houses, Chapter III, Part - 18

Continuation…

Dr. Shanker Adawal

Mars in the Seventh House brings these professional opportunities: In Aries, Leo and Sagittarius – printing press, in Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn – building contractor, timber seller and agriculture. In Gemini, Libra or Aquarius – cycle or car dealer, pilot or mechanic, in Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces ascendant – surgery and engineering.

See three examples of Mars in the Seventh House in an exalted position:

1. Date of Birth 10-5-1892 Tuesday, latitude and longitude 15-23.

***chart***

He was married once, his wife was quarrelsome but their children survived. He was a farmer.

2. Date of Birth 10-6-1892 on a Friday at 5.30 a.m. at sunrise on the 13th meridian.

***chart***

He was a learned professor and earned a good salary. He had a lot of prestige, went abroad a few times and had a good inheritance. He did not get married as Mars was retrograde in the Seventh House and a stable Mars was in the ascendant where Venus was retrograde. Therefore the Sun and Mercury were in the seventh house from the Moon meaning that there were three malefic influences in the sphere of Venus. He always wore a distorted expression which resulted in him needing an operation to cure it later. He was forever ill. He was of medium height and lean build.

1. Date of Birth- 13-7-1890 at Ratnagiri at 5 a.m. local time. He did not get married.

***chart***

If Mars is in Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Scorpio or Leo the person’s wife will have a tendency depending upon aspects of Saturn, Venus and Rahu to sleep with other men to have a child. This may be happening with the husband’s knowledge. The man is quite intelligent but arrogant and ill mannered. In a feminine sign he tends to panic in a crisis but if it is a feminine sign the person is extremely courageous. He has few friends and not much happiness from women. This is because of sins committed in an earlier life. His wife loses a parent early. Doctors in whose horoscopes Mars is in the Seventh House conduct post mortems on accident victims and also perform major surgeries which bring them fame. They travel abroad. Lawyers succeed in appeals in defence law. Therefore a lawyer who has Mars in the Seventh House should not lose heart if he is defeated in any case. This is also a good placement for mechanics, engineers, turners, fitters and drivers. If the person is a policeman or an inspector in any department he should conduct elections to choose a female partner for professional purposes, this will bring him fame. This is not a good placement for people working in offices as they end up frequently quarrelling with their seniors. In Aries, Leo and Sagittarius the person gets honest servants but the man himself will never be a very superior master.

Mars in the Eighth House

Acharya and Gunakar: Nidhanagesalpasuto vikalekshanaha. He has few sons and bad eye-sight.

Parashar: Mrityau dhananaasham paraabhavam. He has loss of wealth and prestige.

Kalyanavarma: Vyadhipraayosalpaayuhu kushareero neechakarmakartaa cha. Nidhanaste kshititanaye bhavati pumaan nitysantapataha. He is frail and ill, long lived, ill mannered and sad.

Baidhyanath: Vineetaveshodhanavaan ganesho mahisute ranghragate tu jaataha. His clothes are sober, he is wealthy and prestigious.

Garg: Mritym gato mrityukaro mahijaha shastraadilutaadibhiragnito va. Ku shta pranaasho grahiniprapeedaanayatyadho naashakamaanayech. He dies of being injured by weapons, or leprosy, or gangrene, or burns. His wife suffers.

Mars & Mercury: Mars in Various Houses, Chapter III, Part - 17

Continuation…
Dr. Shanker Adawal
Mantreshwara: Anuchitakaro rogaatorstesadhwagno mritadaaravaan. He is ill mannered, diseased and a traveler. His wife dies.

Kashinath: Bhoomiputre saptamage rudhiraaktospi kopavaan. Neechasevi vanchakashcha nirgunospi bhavennaraha. He has blood disorders, is angry, works as a servant, loots and cheats people and is not virtuous.

Brihadyavanajaatak: Nanaanarthavyarthachitopasagaimbairivraatairmaanavam heenadeham daarrpatyanantaduhkhaprataptam daaraagaarengaarakrosyam karoti. He worries futilely about disasters that he has no control over. His enemies harass him. He is forever worried about his sons. He has fear of fire when he is 17.

Jaageshwar: Yadaa mangalaha saptame syaatdaanim priyaa mrityumaapno tyavanshyam vranairvaa. Param jaathare rogakrooraraishracha raktaadwichaarya twindam janmakaalestha prashne. Sukham no naraanaam tatha no kryaanaam tathaa paadamushti prahaarairharthahasyaath. Paraspardhaya ksheeyate shatruvargaat yadaam managalo mangalaayya grihe syaath. His wife dies. He has scars and abdominal infections. He has blood disorders, and all these faults are seen in his birth chart as well as horoscope. He is unhappy, unsuccessful, assaulted and publicly shamed, and harmed by fighting his foes.

Jayadeva: Abalaagatagehansachayom roognarthosarbibhayodhyune kuje. His wife defeats him. He has a good house, but is a destructive man who fears his enemies.

Punjacharya: Youvanaarespyateetaa. Kshitije narasya samani pitavranenaanvitadagdhaa va vishavanhitaa yadi tathaa vaa bastirogaanivita. Bhoomiputredhyoonabhaavaopayaate kaantaaheenaha santataha maanavaha sayaath. His wife is not youthful and suffers from pitha system ailments or scars and wounds caused by burns. She is certain to die.

Jeevanath: Kuje kaantagaaram gatavati janosteeva laghutaam. Samaadhate yudhe prabalaripunaa sa kshatatanuhu. Tathaa Kaantafhaati paravishayavaasi khalamatirnivrittovaanjiyaadapi paravaghoorangavirataha. He is lacking in all respects and is defeated in battle by his enemies. His wife dies and he has to live abroad. He has a wicked bent of mind and avoids doing work so that he can spend time with women.

Narayanabhatt: It is the same as Jeevanath.

Gopal Ratnakar: His wife has body aches. If Mars is malefic the wife dies. If not the wife survives. He himself suffers from diseases in the stomach and arms. He has many siblings and maternal aunts and uncles. He is intelligent.

Vasishtha: His wife’s fidelity and the paternity of the children she bears is doubtful.

Gholap: What he has said is wrong.

Ram Dayal: Yauvanaaddaya kujespihi. If Mars is strong the wife is youthful, cruel, crooked and very ordinary looking.

Hillajaatak: Saptatrimshanmite varshe jaayaanaashaam cha saptamaha. At the age of 37 his wife dies.

Yavanmath: He gets very little time from his wife. He is unkind but prefers not to get into arguments. His wife dies.

Paaschaatya Math (Western Thought): His wife is harsh and quarrelsome and they do not have a happy marriage. He has to constantly remain on his guard for the next quarrels and there is frequent chances of visiting the courts to solve quarrels his wife has struck up with neighbours and others. The enemies are strong and open. He does not benefit from partnerships. The behavior of his wife leaves him irritable. If Mars is in Cancer or Pisces, the wife’s behavior is terrible and the man has to act against his better nature. He suffers losses because of his frequent defeats in court and his inheritance gets destroyed.

Unknown: Swadaarapeedaa paaparkshe paapayute swarkshe swadaarahaanihi. Shubhayute jeevati apatyainaashaha videshavaasaha. Vigatatanuhu madhyapaanapriyaha ranaruchihi. Choranyabhchaaramoolena kalatraantaram dushta streesangaha. Bhagachumbakaha. Mandayute hashtre shishnachumbakaha. Vandhyaarajasalaastreesambhogi. Tatra shatruyute bahukaltranaashaha. Ahankaarih. In a malefic influence Mars in the Seventh House means the wife lives but their children don’t. They have to lived abroad. His body is lean. He is a drunkard and quarrelsome. He has extra-marital affairs. If Mars is with Saturn the man has sex with other men and is bisexual. He frequents brothels and if Mars is hostile he marries many times and each of his wives dies. He is arrogant.

My Thoughts: All astrologers have predicted only bad traits for Mars in this position: wife’s death, ill tempered wife, ugly wife, defeat at the hands of enemies, losses in business, illness, grief, sin, poverty, etc. These are seen in Taurus, cancer, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces. In the other signs it is the good traits of Mars that manifest.

My Experience: The person is a jack of all trades but master of none. From the age of 18 – 36 he has some stability and takes up one of the professions dominated by Mars. In this situation his wife is good but quarrelsome and dominates the husband. In Aries, Leo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Aquarius there is a dual influence. In Taurus or Libra the person lives his wife a lot while in Virgo or Aquarius the person person’s fate takes a turn for the better after marriage. It gets even better after his second marriage. In Cancer or Capricorn the person has to work very hard till the age of 36 and then the rest of his life is easy.

Mars & Mercury: Mars in Various Houses, Chapter III, Part - 16

Continuation…

Dr. Shanker Adawal

My Thoughts: Whatever Acharya, Gunakar, Kalyanavarma, Baidhyanath, Parashar, Yavanmath, Gopal Ratnakar, Hillajaatak, Garg, Kashinath, Jayadeva, Mantreshwara, Narayanabhatt, Jeevanath, have said is applicable to feminine signs. But traits like lustful, large appetite, enmity with the learned, etc. apply to masculine signs. The first half of what Aryagranth has said applies to masculine signs and the second to feminine signs. Brihadyavanajaatak’s statement about extreme anger is also applicable to masculine signs. Similarly what Jaageshwar has said about maternal uncle’s suffering is also applicable to masculine signs. What Punjaraj says is applicable only if Mars is in a fire sign.

My Experience: Most traits are already mentioned. What is significant is that the maternal uncle and aunt die as do children. The aunt could be widowed and both the aunt and the uncle may be childless. The person himself may not be caught even if he takes bribes. Let us look at an example of Mars in the Sixth House:

William Marconi (the man who invented the radio) – born on 25-4-1874 at Rome, Italy (latitude 41-54, longitude 14) with the 25th phase of Sagittarius ascendant.

***chart***

Charubel has said about the 25th phase that it is similar to man flying in a balloon above the clouds. The person uses science to detect that which is a mystery so far. He succeeds after great effort and gets glory for it. Marconi was unhappy where women were concerned. His wife divorced him in 1910. Though his parents wanted him to be a music maestro he insisted on studying science and engineering and ultimately that brought him success. Men in whose horoscopes Mars is in the sixth place have a very high libido and are harsh in bed. They have a few sons but they dies. The first or second son can be intelligent if he lives and dies just when he is about to start earning. There is a possibility that the wife may be sterile. Hillajaatak has said that the man may have a son at the age of 24. Since in some communities now marriages take place only between 25 and 30, the logic of this has to be experienced before it can be taken as correct. He feels very intensely hungry especially in mid-afternoon. His libido and lust are high. The excessive appetite makes him eat excessive quantities of food which increase the heat levels in his body and this causes all kinds of illnesses. His success is of the highest degree but comes only after persistent labour and repeated failures.

Mars in the Seventh House

Acharya and Gunakar: His wife insults him.

Kalyanavarma: Mritadaarro rogaartosmaargarato bhavati dukhitaha paapaha shreerahitaha santaptaha shushkatanurbhavati saptame bhaume. His wife dies. He is ill, ill mannered, sad, sinful and poor. His hunger leaves him lean.

Baidhyanath: Streemoolapravilaapako ranaruchihi kaamasthithe bhoomije. He has to struggle for a woman. He loves battle.

Parashar: Striyaam daaramaranam neechasevanam streesangamaha. Kujokte sustanaa kathinordhwakuchaa. His wife dies and he satisfies his lust with lowly women. His wife’s death is painful.

Saravali: His wife’s genitalia are dried and small.

Garg: Munigrahagatabhaume neechasansthesarigehee yuvatimaranadukham jaayate maanavaanaam. Makaragrihanijasthe naanyapatnishchadhate chapalamativishaalaam dushta chintaaviroopaam. If Mars is malefic, his wife dies and if it is auspicious he has only one wife who is mischievous and intelligent but wicked and ugly.

His servants are wicked and if Mars is under any malicious influence there is a strong risk of the person dying in an accident. He has a capacity for much work.

Mars & Mercury: Mars in Various Houses, Chapter III, Part - 14

Continuation...

Dr. Shanker Adawal

Kumar Gandharva born on 8-4-1924 on a Tuesday afternoon at 3.45 p.m. at Sulegaon in the erstwhile state of Sangli:

***chart***

Mars in the Fifth House and Rahu in the ascendant gave his a leaning towards singing. He had a perfect voice for singing and this brought him prestige. Since Rahu was in the fourth place from the Moon, he reaped the benefits of good deeds done in previous lives. His father was also a singer. Since Mars in the Fifth House augurs travel, there is much foreign travel. It is also good for doctors. They have to treat people with appendicitis, liver or spleen disorders or those who have tonsillitis as also those suffering from sexually transmitted diseases. Such doctors get fame because of the quality of their treatment. If Mars in the Fifth House of a lawyer he ends up having to deal with petty quarrels and abusive clients. If it is in a masculine sign the person has more dealings with men and if it is a feminine sign the majority of the person’s dealings are with women. The person has a two-faced nature and an excessive libido. Doctors in whose horoscopes Mars is in the Fifth Place are kind to poor and needy patients. Whether a doctor, or a lawyer, the person grasps his subject with ease. They are sweet spoken, friendly but arrogant. In this regard what Western Thought says is “they are enthusiastic, hard working, educated and willing to try”. This planet is symbolic of power, expansion and vitality. The person values his independence and cannot stand being incarcerated for even a minute. They are generous, brave and courageous. There is no lack of self-confidence in work and this helps them get great honour. They have to guard against false bravado and anger because this makes them reckless. They are arrogant, lose their temper easily and break the peace. They are capable of doing much work in a short duration and with a little bit of discipline they can excel in anything they choose.

Mars in the Sixth House

Parashar: Shrashte ripusamridhim ch jayam bandhusamaagamam arthavridhhim. He has many enemies but is victorious. He gets on well with his in laws but has no wealth.

Acharya: Balavaana shatrujitashracha shatruyaate. He is powerful, strong and one who wins over his enemies.

Gunakar: It is the same as Acharya. He is the lord and makes his servants work. He cannot work on his own.

Baidhyanath: Swami ripukshayakaraha probalodaraagnihi. Shreemaanya shobalayutosvanije ripusthe. Powerful, one who destroys his enemies, wealthy and prestigious. He has a large appetites.

Kalyanavarma: Prabalamadanodaraaginihi sushareero jaayate bali shashte rudhire sambhavati naraha swabandhuvijayati pradhaanashcha. He is lustful, has a large appetite, good looking and one who wins over his relatives.

Aryagranthakar: Ripugrihagatabhaume sangare mrityubhaagi sutadhanaparipoornastungage saukhyabhaagi ripuganaparidushte neechage kshoniputre bhavati vikalamurtihi kutsitaha kroorakarma. Though the usage of the phrase “death in his destiny” is used in the context of battle but this is overall quite debatable. He has wealth and sons. If Mars is exalted the person is happy and if not he is weak, shamed and cruel.

Mars & Mercury: Mars in Various Houses, Chapter III, Part - 13

Continuation

Dr. Shanker Adawal

Parashar: Panchame pitrihaanim cha dhanaayatisutau yashaha. His father dies but he gets a lot of wealth, children and glory.

Lomash Samhita: Arko raahuhu kuja saurilagne tishtati panchame pitaram maataram hanta bhraataram cha shishun kramaataha. If Mars is in the ascendant or the Fifth House, the Sun causes the father’s death, Rahu causes his mother’s death, Mars causes the brother’s death and Saturn causes his children to die.

Unknown: Nirdhanaha putraabhaavaha dumaargee rajakopaha shashta varshe aayudhena kimchichchanda kaalaha durvaasanagyaanvaan maayavaadi teekshnagheehi. Ucche swakshetre putrasamriddhihi budhibhranshaadirogaha. Ranghreshe paapayute paapi veeraha. Dantraputrayogaha. Putraarti durmatihi swajanaivaardi udare vyaadhihi. Patnikashtam. He is poor, sonless, badly behaved, suffers the King’s anger. When he is six he sustains an injury from a weapon. He has sinful thoughts and habits. In Capricorn, Aries and Scorpio the person has many sons, donates large quantities of grain to the poor, and has authority. His enemies cause him suffering. If Mars is in any hostile influence his children are destroyed, his brain is infected with disease. If Mars is enslaved by the Lord of the Sixth House the person is brave but sinful. His son’s death causes him grief and he has to adopt a son to be his heir. He quarrels with his own people, suffers from gastric disorders and his wife leaves him.

My Thoughts: All the malefic properties mentioned by astrologers so far apply to masculine signs. The good traits mentioned apply only to feminine signs excepting Capricorn. It is worth noting that except Parashar all have mentioned only negative traits of Mars in this position. All these negative things like loss in financial ventures, son’s death, son’s destruction, son’s illness, discontent in the family, death of father and brothers, childlessness, wife’s miscarriages, stupidity, wickedness, poverty, fear of fire and weapons, cruelty, travel, bravery, corruption, cancer, harassment by sons, stupidity, extreme hunger, sinful nature, jail term, foolishness, keeping company of fools, loss of prestige, angry temperament, destructive nature, are all applicable to masculine signs and Capricorn. The positive traits laid out by Brihadyavanajaatak and Western Thought are seen in feminine signs. Parashar is wrong when he predicts the father’ death as the Fifth House has no connection to the father’s life. He may have said this merely because from the Tenth House, the Fifth House is in the eighth place which has a say on the father’s life but he is still wrong.

My Experience: Sons are born and do remain alive in all feminine signs except Capricorn and also in Gemini which is a masculine sign. The first son, however, dies. In other signs the mother miscarries, the child is born dead or alternatively dies before the age of five. But this is because of the sins committed by the mother in a previous life. At such times the mother’s horoscope should be examined or she should be asked what type of dreams she has to be able to interpret why this is taking place. She could be suffering from any one of these problems: pain during her menstrual periods, irregular periods, pain during sex etc. If Mars is in a feminine sign, the person’s wife has three sons but they are wicked. If the first born is a girl she will survive. As far as what Parashar has said about the father’s destruction my experience is: If there is a malefic influence in the ascendant, in the House of Wealth, Fourth House, Fifth House of Sixth House the father’s death is likely. Similarly if there is a malefic influence in the Seventh, Ninth, Eighth, Tenth or House of Profit the mother’s likely. Another verse Parashar has written goes like this, the father’s death should be predicted after checking what planet rules the house which is in fourth place from the Sun and mother’s death should be predicted after checking the ruler of the house five places from the Moon, while friends deaths can be predicted after checking the situation in the eleventh place. If Mars is in a feminine sign in the Fifth House, the person doesn’t have wealth but he does not want for prestige and honour. If it is in Aries, Leo or Sagittarius, his education relates to Army, police, forestry, engineering, aeronautical sciences, driving, technology etc. In Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn the person’s education relates to surveys, geology, overseeing, tailoring etc. In Gemini, Libra or Aquarius the person’s career and studies are in the direction of medicine, medical practice, defence law etc. In Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces it is surgery, history but with an honours degree. Mars in the Fifth House signifies prestige. Mr. Bhate Buva and the late Dadasaheb Khaparde are people whose horoscopes are perfect examples of mars in the Fifth House. Their manner is businesslike and their attitude friendly. Marriage occurs late in life. Their voices are sweet but effeminate. In the horoscope of J N Joshi, a renowned singer of a firm called “His Master’s Voice” Mars was in the Fifth House in Capricorn, He was married late to a woman from a different caste. In this situation, those who take bribes are caught early. They are well-dressed people who are well versed in skills required in the bedroom. They do not have difficulty in pleasing women. They are dominated by a desire to succeed and be honoured. They tend to squander money and can be debauched. Now see an example of a man in whose horoscope a melodious voice came built in.
