Y-3- Raja Yoga- That the union (conjunction in a sign) of lords or 9^th and 10^th produces Raja Yoga is accepted by all.

When there is exchange of signs between lords of 9^th and 10^th (in spite of one of the planets owning 3^rd, 6^th, 8^th, 11^th or 12^th house, a high class Raja Yoga will be realized, but where there is no such exchange of signs and one of these planets owns 3, 6, 8, 11 or 12^th houses, Raja Yoga effects will not materialize.

In this context, it should be born in mind that in the above case, even though Raja Yoga does not materialize, the planet with lordship over 9^th and 10^th house without lordship over 3, 6, 8, 11, or 12^th will still remain the significator for Raja Yoga.

Even for Aries Ascendant lords of 9^th and 10^th i.e. Saturn and Jupiter in spite of lordship over 11^th for Saturn and over 12^th for Jupiter, if Saturn is in Sagittarius and Jupiter is in debilitation in Capricorn, there will arise Raja Yoga, though comparatively it may not be as good as those occurring for other Ascendants. Mere combination of these two lords in any other sign will Not produce Raja Yoga.

Note: Perhaps a hint is thrown here that the exchange of signs between planets is superior to or conjunction in a sign.

For Leo and Aquarius Ascendants, Venus and Mars respectively have lordship over 10^th, but they are considered as Malefic due to their lordship over the 3^rd house.

Mercury and Jupiter for Capricorn and Cancer Ascendants respectively, are considered Malefic due to their lordship over the 6^th.

In spite of the above remarks, if there is exchange of signs between the lords of 9^th and 10^th there is bound to be some amount of Raja Yoga. In such an event the evil due to lordship over a dusthana (3, 6, 8, 11, 12^th in this context) gets reduced.

For Taurus Ascendants, Saturn is a benefic for all purposes.

Lord of 5^th in conjunction with lord of 10^th is also a significator for Raja Yoga. The effects of the Raja Yoga will always be proportionate to the strength of the significator.

Y-4- Raja Yoga Effects When?- Lords of 3, 6, 8, 11 and 12th house are Malefic. If any these lords get connected with benefic or the Raja Yoga karakas, in the Major periods of lord of 3, 6, 8, 11 or 12^th, but in the sub periods of benefic (who is in conjunction with the former) the Raja Yoga effects will be realized.

If a benefic stands in conjunction with a Yoga karaka planet, in the Major period of the latter and in the sub period of the former, the benefic effects will be reaped.

If there is union between strong planet owning quadrants and trines, Raja Yoga arises. Amongst these, union between lords of 4^th-5^th and 10^th-5^th cause Raja Yoga.

The Raja Yoga effects arising due to union of lord of quadrant and trine will materialize in their Major periods but in the sub periods of benefic who are Not connected with them. If there are more than one such sub period, strongest should be preferred.

Rahu-Ketu placed in quadrants and conjoining trine lord or vice-versa, also produce Raja Yoga.

Connection of lords of 8^th or 11^th would lessen the effects produced by Raja Yoga caused by union of lords of 9^th and 10^th house.

Such Raja Yoga effects start materializing during the sub period of a Maraka in the Major period of the Raja Yoga karaka planet. In sub periods of Malefic, in latter’s Major period the effects will be in peak. In sub periods of benefic not connected with Raja Yoga karaka, there will be middling results.

Rahu and Ketu in auspicious houses and becoming Yoga karakas, if not conjunct with other planets, confer their beneficial effects during their own sub periods.

Y-5- Effects of Sub-Periods- If lord of Major period is a malefic, there will be mixed effects in the sub period of a benefic in conjunction with lord of Major period; and very bad results in sub period of a malefic in conjunction with the lord of Major period. In sub period of a benefic not connected with lord of Major period (who is a Malefic), there will be some benefic results.

In sub periods of lords of trines occurring in the Major periods of lords of quadrants or vice-versa, there will be much happiness, provided that such lord of quadrant or trine is not owning Malefic houses (3, 6, 8, 11 or 12^th) or connected with their lords.
