Drekkana Bala: The Drekkana lords in Tajika for computing
Panch Vargiya Bala are different from those in Parashari system (see Table
below). Here the lord of 1st Drekkana in Aries is Mars. The lords of
Drekkana in successive signs are the planets that fall in regular order from
Mars onwards i.e. Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. Begin with 2nd
Drekkana of Aries with Sun and continues till 3rd Drekkana of Pisces
again as Mars. In a Varshphal, a planet in own Drekkana gets 10 units of Bala,
in a friendly Drekkana 7.5 units of Bala, in neutral Drekkana 5.00 units of
Bala, and in inimical Drekkana only 2.5 units of Bala.

Navamsha Bala: As far as Navamsha Bala is concerned,
there is no difference in casting/ lord of Navamshas with the exception of
aspectual relationship. A planet in own Navamsha gets 5 units of Bala, in a
friendly Navamsha 3.75 units of bala, in a neutral Navamsha 2.5 units of Bala,
and in an inimical Navamsha only 1.25 units of Bala. In the example chart,
Navamsha Bala of each planet is as follows;

Computing & Use of Panch-Vargiya Bala: The five fold
strength of each planet is calculated in tabulated in the form of a chart. The
strength of planets in the Panch-vargiya
Bala is expressed in units called the Vishwa
bala (V.B.). The total units of Bala
acquired by a planet is the five sources is totaled and then divided by four
(4) to get what is known as Viswa Bala
(V.B.).

It is customary to express
Panch- Vargiya or Viswa Bawla as
decimal fractions. The interpretation of strength of a planet based on Panch-Vargiya
Bala is made as under:
(a) If
V.B. is more than 15- Planet is Parakrami
(Extraordinarily strong).
(b)
If
V.B. is 10 to 15 units- Planet is Poorna
Bali (Fully strong).
(c) If
V.B. 5-10 to 10 units- Planet is Madhya-Bali
(of medium strength).
(d) If
V.B. is less than 5 units- Planet Nirbali (Weak).
While using this Bala in deciding Varshesh or Lord of the year, the relative numerical strength of
planets with in a particular group is taken into consideration. The strength of
a planet also influences the results when the planet is Dasdha lord. The Dasdha
effects have been discussed in a subsequent chapter.
