View of Uttara- Kalamrita: The author of Uttar-Kalamrita, sage
Kalidas, advocates that while calculating Mudda dasha (including balance of
dasha) at the commencement of the year, Moon’s Nakshtra in annual chart should
be taken into account instead of Moon’s Nakshtra in birth chart. The first
dasha during the year will be that of Moon’s Nakshtra lord in the annual chart.
In the example chart 12, Moon’s Nakshtra lord is Sun.
Hence the order of dashas
and their duration as per this system will be Sun- 110 days; Moon- 60 days;
Mars- 32 days; Mercury- 40 days; Jupiter- 48 days; Venus- 56 days; Saturn- 4
days; Rahu- 5 days; and Lagna- 10 days. This makes a total of 365 days.
Apparently the logic has
some substance in it. However, the order and duration of dasha periods seems to
be arbitrary without any rationale. It does not take into account Ketu’s dasha,
though the Moon could well be in one of the Nakshtra of Ketu. Should Ketu then
be taken equivalent to Rahu, to Mars or to the dispositor of Ketu. This
hypothesis requires further research and testing before it could be considered.
Therefore at present it is not in popular use.
5.
Calculation of Sub-periods in Mudda Dasha: For a closure of
timing, after deciding the major periods, one a should calculate sub-periods.
In a given major period or Mahadasha (MD), the first sub-period or Antar dasha
(AD) belongs to the same planet. The remaining sub-periods follow in the order
of Vimshotri Dasha. The duration of sub-periods in each period is proportionate
to each planet’s major period and is equal to multiple of dasha periods of
major & sub-period lords in days divided by 360. For example the sub-period
of Moon in major period of Sun will be 18 x 30/ 360 = 1.5 days or 1 day 12
hours.
3. Yogini Mudda Dasha
1.
There are eight Yoginis namely Mangla, Pingla, Dhanya, Bhramari, Bhadrika,
Ulka, Siddhya and Sankata with Moon, Sun, Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, Saturn,
Venus, and Rahu/ Ketu respectively. In a birth chart, these Yoginins have a
period of 1 month for Mangla, 2 months for Pingla, 3 months for Dhanya, 4
months for Bhramari, 5 months for Bhadrika, 6 months for Ulka, 7 months
Siddhya, and 8 months for Sankata; with a total of 36 months. In an annual
chart, Multiply these numbers by a factor 10 to get period of various Yoginis.
Thus the eight yoginis in an annual chart have periods of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50,
60, 70, and 70 days respectively with a total of 360 days. The eight yogini
dashas alternatively belong to benefics and malefics and give alternatively
good and bad periods.
3.
Order of Yogini Dasha: To find out the first yogini dasha at the
beginning of the year, add number of birth Nakshtra of Moon to completed years
of native for the chart and a further addition of number 3. Divide the total by
8; forget the quotient, the remainder will denote the first yogini dasha in the
beginning of the year. For example, in the annual chart for 41st
year for Rajiv Gandhi (refer chart 19 & 20), the first yogini dasha will
be:
40+11+3/ 8 or 54/8 gives
quotient 6 and remainder 6
Thus the first yogini
dasha will be sixth in the order i.e. Ulka to be followed by Siddhya, Sankata,
Mangla, Pingla, Dhanya, Bhramari, Bhadrika, and Ulka again.
4.
Balance of Yogini Dasha: out of the first yogini dasha, it is
essential to find out balance of the dasha that is available for operation. For
example in the example chart 12, We have seen that the first dasha in the
beginning of the year is Ulka, which an operating period of 60 days. Let us
calculate how much of it is available at the beginning of the year and how much
will be available at the end of the year after dasha of Bhadrika. The formula
for it is:
Total duration of Ulka x
untraversed part of Moon’s Nakshtra at birth/ total duration of a Nakshtra i.e.
13-20’ or 800’
= 60 x 9032’/13-20’ or 60
x 572/ 800 = 42.9 days say 43 days
The balance period of Ulka
dasha (60-43) 17 days will be at the end of the year after Bhadrika dasha.
