9.5 Special Transits of Saturn

Part 1

9.5.1 Sadhe Sati: The Saturn is considered to be the most malefic & dreaded planet and it moves the slowest. It takes about 2-1/2 years to transit through a sign/ house. On the other hand, the Moon takes only 2-1/4 days to transit through a sign. The Moon represents the mind & emotions while the Saturn represents discipline, sorrows & diseases. To be successful in life, one should have a disciplined mind and control over emotions. Even Lord Krishna, in “Geeta” has admitted that this is the most difficult thing to do in this world. Saturn’s transit over Moon tries to do exactly the same. Saturn’s transit over Moon tries to do exactly the same. Saturn’s transit over 12th, 1st, 2nd houses from the natal Moon, is said to be particularly troublesome and since the total period covered by this transit to the three houses is 7-1/2 years, this transit is called Sadhe Sati. This is the most dreaded transit and most of the traditional astrologers scare natives about the evil/ adverse results of it. But this transit could be neutral or even good in some cases.

9.5.2 When Saturn during transit, makes ingress in the 12th house from natal Moon, the period of Sadhe Sati starts and remains for 7-1/2 years till it leaves the 2nd house from natal Moon. Generally Sadhe Sati is considered to be evil at the very starting point because the Saturn occupies house of expanses from 1st house and aspects 2nd house of family & wealth by 3rd aspect and 9th house of luck, fame & wisdom. The transit  has the worst effects while transiting over natal Moon, but by the time it leaves 2nd house from natal Moon, it cleanse the native and redeems his affairs & status. However, the modern astrologers count the period of Sadhe Sati, from the time transiting Saturn approaches natal Moon 45 degree prior to the exact longitude of the natal Moon and continues till the Saturn moves away from natal Moon by another 45 degrees. Thus this transit of Saturn by an arc of 90 degree longitude around natal Moon constitutes the period of Sadhe Sati and is independent of any sign/  house. Depending on the functional nature of natal & transit Saturn & Moon and the sign & constellations they are in, the results of Sadhe Sati period varies, but it is never same throughout. The details are given in succeeding sub-para.

9.5.3 The nature of Sadhe Sati results as per position of natal Moon in various sign and during various cycles of Saturn’s transit are given in the following table.
