3. Commencement of construction work:- Due consideration is again essential for choosing the month and the sign in which Sun is transiting at the time of starting actual construction work. According to some learned scholars, the lunar months suitable for construction and the corresponding sign where sun is transiting are given below:-

Sun in

Aries

Taurus

Cancer

Leo

Libra

Scorpio

Month

Chaitra

Jyeshtha

Ashadha

Bhadrapada

Ashwin

Kartika

The construction work should not be started when Sun is transiting in dual signs i.e. Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.

a. Tithis:- All the tithes expect Rikta Tithis Viz., 4, 9, 14, and the 8th as well as 30th –Amavasya are good.

b. Day:- Tuesday is malefic. Bhadra and the malefic yogas should also be avoided. All other days are good. Saturday, which is generally considered bad for most of the Muhurta, is good because it is the day of the slowest and rather oldest planet. Sunday which is also generally degraded in some Muhurta is good for construction because it is categorized as Sthira or Dhruwa-fixed and constant.

4. Ascendant or Lagna:- Ascendants of all signs except moveable signs viz:- Aries, cancer, Libra and Capricorn are good. The benefic planets should be well placed in the houses other than the 8th and 12th houses which are considered bad houses and malefic planets should occupy 3, 6 and 11th house.

a. Vastu Chakra:- Significance of Vastu has been defined in previous chapter hence there is no need to give unnecessary details, it would be suffice here to say that a broad test known as `Vastu Chakra’ should be done by thorough checking of the position of various constellations Counting from Sun’s nakshatra or the nakshatra occupied by the sun the constellation selected for starting construction should be 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, or 18th. These are auspicious and will give benefic results. The first 7 and the last 9 Nakshatras are malefic. This is also known as `Nava Graha Parvesh Vastu Chakra Sudhi.

Muhurta for entering a new house

This Muhurta is very important. One may construct his own house or he may purchase or acquire a house. Proper “Nava Graha Pooja”-worship – “Vastu Pujan” and “Yajna” must be performed with chanting and reciting of Vedic hymns-mantra at auspicious time, in benefic nakshatras viz. Rohini, punarvasu, Swati, Shravana, Anuradha, Chitra, Uttar Phalguni, Uttar Shadha, Uttar Bhadrapad, Danishtha, or Satbhisha before entering the house. Entry into a new house should be made in the lunar months of Magha, Phalgun, Vaishakha, and Jyestha when the Sun is in Uttaryana i.e. in the signs Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus or Gemini. Entrance in a new house should be done when Moon is in bright half.

The entrance to a new house should not be done when Jupiter and Venus are combust or Jupiter is in transit in its debilitation sign. According to some learned scholars, Jupiter in Leo and Sun in Pisces are not considered good.

Nakshatra and Tithi etc. for entering a new house are given below.

1. Nakshatra - All Fixed nakshatras viz. Uttar Phalguni, Uttara Shadha, Uttar Bhadrapad, Rohni, all Mridu or friendly Constellations-Mrigshira, Chitra, Anuradha, Rewati, and all the constellations indicating the direction of main gate of the house are good. The Nakshatras from Kritika to Ashlesha represent east, Magha to Vishakha indicate South, Anuradha to Shravana point towards West and Dhanishtha to Bharni show North direction. The constellations representing the direction of the main gate are considered auspicious. Such constellations are also known as Digdwar nakshatras.
