5.8 88th Nakshtra Pada

5.8 Every Nakshtra has four equal pada of 3 degree 20’ each. Planets, whether malefic or benefic, while transiting the 88th Nakshtra pada from the birth star (Janma Nakshtra), based on the Moon, always give malefic results. The position of the Moon in one’s natal horoscope is the basic point of reference. Let us consider a native who is born with the Moon in 3rd pada of Rohini Nakshtra. The 88th pada of 22nd Nakshtra from it will be 2nd pada of Uttar-bhadrapad. Whenever, a planet transits the above position of 88th pada from Janma Nakshtra, adverse results will be produced. The intensity of malefic effects will depend on the nature, strength, & disposition of the particular planet in the natal chart and also on the number of planets transiting 88th pada at any given time. However if transiting Jupiter aspects the planets in 88th pada, some relief may be expected.

5.9 Sapta Shalakha Chakra

5.9.1 Saptsalakha takes its name from seven lines that are used horizontally and vertically to draw this chakra. In this 28 Nakshtra are used for delineation. The 28th additional Nakshtra is Abhijit which is located between Uttarashada and Shravana Nakshtra. Draw seven lines horizontally (from West to east) and over them draw seven lines vertically. The 28th extremities or points thus formed are posted with Nakshtra in a cyclic order. The Nakshtra placement commences from Krittika and the starting point is the Northeast corner of the chakra. Each extremity or Nakshtra is connected with or interacts with three Nakshtra located at the three straight lines emanating from that Nakshtra and acts as Vedha to the Nakshtra concerned. The Birth star or the Janma Nakshtra is the most important reference point. Counted from it, the other important/ sensitive Nakshtra/ Tara are 3rd (Vipat Tara), 5th (Prityari Tara), 7th (Vedha Tara), 10th (Dwijanma or Anujanma Tara), 19th (Adhana or Trijanma Tara) and 22nd (Vainashik Tara). As per Tamil classic Kalaprakasika Chapter XXXIII; sloka 16, 10th Nakshtra from one governed by Sun is called Ulka. These sensitive Nakshtra are marked on the Saptsalakha Chakra for delineation. On any day the position of transiting planets are marked as per their placement in various Nakshtra. (See the chakra below).
