4.4.2
Trikone or Triangular Reductions: The benefic dots obtained
in Bhinnashtak varga are called
“Suddha dots”. These are subjected to two reductions to get “Srothriya dots”,
which are a refined state of mathematical calculations to help in getting
transit results. In Trikone reductions, we take four Trikones one by one and
dots in each group of Trikone signs are reduced thus;
i) If
there is no dot in any of the three signs, no reduction is required.
ii) If
there are no dots in any of the two signs, the figure (of dots) in the third
sign should be made zero.
iii) If
the dots in the three signs are equal, the figure in all the three signs should
be made zero.
iv) If
the benefic dots in the Trikone signs are different, deduct the least dots from
each of the three figures and put the balance in the three signs.
Illustration: To
illustrate the Trikone reduction method, let us take the Bhinnashtak of Jupiter of the native of chart No. 3:
4.4.3
Ekadhipathya Reduction: This reduction should be made in a
Bhinnashtak varga only after the Trikone reduction has been applied. During
this reduction, the dots or figures in the two houses of each planet are
considered. Since Sun & Moon owns only one sign each, this reduction is not
applicable to them. The rules for five other planets are:
i)
When there are planets in both the houses of a planet, the figures after
Trikone reduction are not disturbed.
ii)
When there is no figure in any of the houses of a planet, no action is
required.
iii) If
one of the two houses of a planet is occupied by a planet, then,
a) If
the figure in the sign occupied by a planet is smaller than that in the
unoccupied sign, make the later figure equal to the former.
b) If
the figure in the occupied sign is greater than that of or equal to the
unoccupied sign, remove the later.
iv) If
both the houses of a planet are not occupied, then
a)
If
the figures in the two houses are equal, remove both.
b) If
the figures are unequal, reduce the larger figure to the smaller.
Illustration:
Let us take the Bhinnashtak of
Jupiter after Trikone reduction of the native of chart No. 3 as shown in Para
4.4.2:
Start from houses of
Mercury. Gemini has three dots but is not occupied by any planet, while Virgo
is posited with Venus and zero dot. So make zero dot in Gemini also. Now take
signs of Taurus & Libra of Venus. Taurus has no planet but has 4 dots,
while Libra has four planets and 4 dots. So make zero dot in Taurus sign. Next
see Aries & Scorpio of Mars. Neither of the house has any planet, but Aries
has one dot while Scorpio has two. So make only one dot in both the signs. In Jupiter’s
signs-Sagittarius & Pisces, Neither of the sign has any dot. So no action
is required. In case signs of Saturn-Capricorn & Aquarius, Capricorn has a
planet and 4 dots, while Aquarius has neither any planet nor any dot. So again
the positions remain unchanged.
The total number of the
reduced figures after Ekadipathya
reduction, as per above chart is 15. This figure is called Srothriya Bindu and is useful in giving predictions.
