5.4 Vipreet Vedha

5.4.1 The Narad Purana or Phaldeepika does not mention any obstruction place (Vedha) for malefic or inauspicious planets. However, another classic, Jatak Parijata, gives a table for Vedhas of Malefic/ inauspicious planets as well. The following table shows the inauspicious places along with Vedha (obstruction) places for cancellation of malefic results. The places where no figures have been given are the auspicious places.

Notes:
1. Roman numerals indicate houses reckoning from natal Moon.

2. Arabic numerals are Vedha points for inauspicious places. For example. If Mars is transiting in 4th house (a malefic place from natal Moon), under column IV against Mars, the figure is 3. This indicate that the malefic effects of Mars, transiting in 4th house, will be nullified, if there is simultaneous transit of any planet in 3rd house.

3. These Vedha points have been taken from a classic called “Kaala- Prakashika”.

4. In Vipreet Vedha, the general opinion is that it would make more sense if reckoning is done from the transiting planets themselves. This has the support of Sage Kashyap and Muhurat Chintamani.

5. Vipreet Vedha is controversial, as it does not have the Puranic sanction. There is a need to test it further and rigorously before use.

Example Chart No. 4; Cine Star Ms Sharmila Tagore

Let us try to find out how will be the transit results for her on 22nd Sep 2011. In her birth chart, the Moon was in Virgo and she is having dasha of Saturn-Jupiter on this day. The transit chart will be as under:

In the above transit chart, the Sun & Saturn are in 1st house from natal Moon, hence both are malefic. Mercury & Jupiter are in 8th & 12th from natal Moon, so they are also malefic. Venus in Natal Moon sign is benefic, but is debilitated and has Vedha by Jupiter in 8th house, hence gets nullified. Similarly Mars, though benefic in 11th from Moon gets nullified results. So out of seven planets six planets are inauspicious and only one, the Moon, is benefic and does not have Vedha as 4th house from natal Moon is vacant. Moreover both dasha & Antar dasha lords, Saturn & Mercury are malefic on the day and Saturn in natal Moon sign denotes crucial period of Saturn’s Sade Sati. This shows a very inauspicious day, the native lost her husband on this day.
