Unknown: Janavallabhaha. Bhaavadhipe balayute bhraata deerghayuhu. Visheshabhaagyavaan dhyaanasheelavaan. Gurubhaktiyutaha. Paapayute karmavighnavaan. Shubhayute shubhakshetre karmasiddhihi. Kirtipratishtthavaan. Ashtaadasho varshe dravyaarjansamarthaha. Vyaapaarat bhoomipaalataha prasaadaat sahsaat vanhishastraat. Sarvasmarthaha. He is popular. If the ruler of the Tenth House is strong his brothers will be long lived. He is extremely fortunate, meditative and devoted to his teachers. If Mars is with a malefic influence the person will face hindrances all his life. If it is auspicious the person succeeds and gains fame. At the age of 17 he gets wealth in trader, from the king or through his acts of bravery. He is courageous, charismatic, disease free, and has a strong physique. His mentally, however, is like a thief and his behavior is bad. If the ruler of his destiny and deeds is also with Mars in the Tenth House, the person can become the king. If it is with Jupiter the person gets prestige to seat him on elephants and much land.

My Thoughts: Some astrologers have ascribed malefic properties while others have said auspicious things. The malefic traits that have been said are seen in Taurus, Gemini, Libra and Aquarius while the good things are seen in Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. Aryagranthakar has contradicted himself one cannot relate to what he said. Women are attracted to either good looks, or wealth or education.

My Experience: The father or the mother dies in childhood and the person is adopted. This is particularly true of Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. Sons die. The person gets no glory. If Mars is in conjunction with the rulers of the ninth and tenth houses the person can become the king. Though the unknown astrologer says that Mars in conjunction with Jupiter brings the person enough prestige to travel seated on an elephant, see this horoscope which proves that wrong: born in the year 1817 on a Wednesday at latitude 23-30 with an ascendant of 5-2-39-30.

He spent his life working at a job that netted him Rs. 30 per month. The prediction about status sufficient to ride elephants applies only to Cancer, Leo or Pisces and then Mars – Jupiter in the Tenth House. If there is a feminine sign in the ascendant the person can succeed but only after great effort. If Mars is in a masculine sign the person succeeds with no effort. Some astrologers have mentioned referring to sins committed in an earlier life for the traits manifested by Mars. They may be rights. The man has children but no wealth or he has wealth and no children or he has both but no prestige. There is also the question of whether Mars can destroy a man’s lineage thus. In some cases its behavior is similar to that of Mars in the ascendant. The man wants to try his hand at many things but succeeds in none. At the age of 23 there is some good luck and stability at 36. The person is filled with a desire to see his own house before he dies.

Here is an example of Mars in the Tenth House in the case of noted singer Balgandharv:

The horoscope of the publisher of the noted publication Uday which was brought out from Amravati – Mr. Bamangawankar was also similar. Neither of them had any sons, only daughters While Balgandharva was wed only once Mr. Bamangawankar was wed twice.

Baidhyanath has said that if Mars is in the Tenth House in Cancer it gives much happiness but at this time Libra is dominating the ascendant and according to Laghu Parashari Jupiter, Sun and Mars for the ascendant are inauspicious. Though it contradicts both, it can be dealt with. What Laghu Parashari said is appropriate for the ascendant based horoscope. In such a situation Mars ensures that the mother or father dies and that the person’s inheritance is destroyed. In contrast what Baidhyanath says is appropriate when predicting the Grand Path of Mars which brings stability, prestige, inheritance and glory. The person succeeds in what he tries but has a tendency to quarrel with people as he makes his way up in life. See an example of one such:
